App
A CLEANER EARTH AND A BEAUTIFUL FUTURE FOR
THE NEXT GENERATION
A famous saying goes, you are what you eat. Do you really know what you put into your system everyday?
Living in a world with a rapid population growth, we unknowingly consume pesticides every day. Pesticides are invisible to our eyes, so we would not be able to tell if the fruits and vegetables we eat contain pesticide residues. Although the Government encourages farmers to explore organic agriculture, high cost is a major deterrent.
We can't place all responsibilities on the farmers' shoulders, so let's try to tackle this issue from a different angle. As consumers who are keen to have more options when it comes to healthy living, we can take the initiative to participate in food production, hence the aquaponic farm in the city.
Aquaponics is a popular in other countries, especially Australia, Singapore and Taiwan. Through combining aquaculture and hydroponics, fishes are the diligent guards in the farm, safeguarding the vegetables from pesticides and chemicals. Furthermore, our farm will be located near you - you can drop by anytime to place your order, or even harvest the vegetables and fruits yourself. We guarantee you that we do not use pesticides and chemicals in our farm. Our goal is to deliver healthy, fresh produce to every home.
We plan to promote aquaponics within a community and present the opportunities to residents to produce chemical-free vegetables on a small parcel of land. You'd be surprised to know that the amount of vegetables produced is higher than the usual way of agriculture. Our aim is to improve our health, reduce the carbon footprint of food transportation, reduce the usage of water in agriculture and to minimise damage on soil.
Reduce Carbon Footprint
Most of the existing farms are located at the outskirts due to land availability and cost. Every day, these vegetables are ferried from the outskirts to the wholesale markets, before they are transported to the markets near us. With our aquaponic farm in the city, we are bringing the farm closer to the people, so that consumers can purchase freshly-harvested vegetables and fruits directly from us.
A plot of land
Inspired by Mel Bartholomew's Square Foot Gardening, our aquaponic farm offers you the chance to adopt a plot of land together with your family, friends or colleagues. You are encouraged to drop by our farm to tend to your plot and spend quality time together with your loved ones.
We are also planning to work with schools to organise day trips for kids to experience aquaponics. At our farm, they will get to see for themselves how vegetables are grown. It will be a fun outing for them to watch new leaves sprouting out and the fishes swimming in our ponds.
Reduce the usage of pesticides
Mass production relies on pesticides to guarantee high production, but shouldn't health should be our first concern? Every parent wishes their children to have a healthy body and mind to explore this vast, beautiful world. At our farm, you plant a seed of health while our army of fishes help you to take care of the vegetables. Isn't that reassuring?
If our project materialises, we will:
1. Organise organic market, as well as develop an online platform and mobile app
We want to work together with like-minded people to promote their organic products in our monthly or weekly organic market. This will increase the public awareness on organic produce.
Our online platform and mobile app will allow users to find an organic market near them to shop for their desired organic produce.
2. Offer aquaponics course
Our course will shed light on the advantages of aquaponics, besides teaching users to build a simple aquaponic system.
3. Advocate aquaponics certification
Currently, there is no certification on aquaponics in Malaysia because it is relatively unheard of. We will approach the relevant departments to discuss the possibility of a certification system for aquaponics.
4. Free vegetables for charitable organisations
We promise to supply fresh, organic produce for charitable organisations as a way to give back to the society.
Having explored suitable land parcels for this project, we have now identified two sites. Once confirmed, we will submit our application to the revelant authorities.
Through our crowdfunding project, we hope to win over your support and invite you to build this dream together with us. This is a battle against pesticides, and also a health revolution for our own sake. Let's give pesticide a resounding NO!
